Recital Day Schedule

Call Times:

  • Show 1: Dancers arrive at 12:00 PM; Final bow rehearsal 12:30

  • Show 2: Dancers arrive at 2:00 PM; Final bow rehearsal 2:30

Dancers must arrive with hair and makeup done and dressed in their first costume. Recreational dancers should wear slicked-back high buns. Competition dancers should style their hair as they do for competitions.

Dancers who do not arrive in time for the Final Bow rehearsal, will not be in the final bow. Please arrive in a timely fashion.

What to Pack for Your Dancer

To keep your dancer prepared and comfortable during the recital, consider packing:

  • All costumes (labeled) and accessories

  • Extra tights in case of rips or runs

  • Dance shoes (correct pair for each routine)

  • Hair supplies (brush, hairspray, bobby pins, hairnets)

  • Makeup touch-up kit

  • Water bottle (labeled)

  • Non-messy snacks if your child has specific dietary needs

  • A book, quiet game, or activity to keep them entertained in the dressing room

Label all your dancer’s belongings—costumes, shoes, tights, hair accessories, and snacks—to prevent items from being misplaced or mixed up with others.

Check-In Process:

  • Parents will check dancers into the dressing room and confirm emergency contact information.

  • Dancers will be grouped with their classes and teacher assistants.

Audience Etiquette

  • Please arrive on time and remain seated during performances.

  • If you need to leave the auditorium, wait for a break between routines to avoid disrupting the dancers or other audience members.

Photography and Videography

  • Professional photography and/or videography may be arranged for the recital.

  • Personal recording and flash photography during the performance are typically not allowed to ensure the safety of the dancers and a distraction-free experience for the audience.

  • Livestream and digital download options will be available for purchase—stay tuned for details.

During the Show

  • Dancers (except preschoolers) will remain in the dressing room until the end of the show.

  • Preschoolers: May be signed out at intermission if they are not staying for the final bow.

Helpful Tip: If your dancer is in multiple routines with different tights, layer the second pair under the first for quicker changes.

Final Bow

All dancers will participate in a final bow at the end of each show. Afterward, dancers will return to the dressing room for check-out. Final bow will be rehearsed 30 minutes before the show on stage.

Additional Notes

  • Dressing Rooms: Activities, snacks, and water will be provided. Quick-change areas are available for female dancers with less than three dances between routines. Parents are not allowed in the dressing room during the show.

  • Pom Uniforms: Competition team members must return studio-owned pom uniforms after their last show.

  • Recital Buns

Creating the perfect bun for a dance recital not only completes the look but also ensures that the dancer's hair stays neatly in place, allowing them to focus entirely on their performance.
