Audition Details.

 

Who:

The audition is open to the public and all dancers at EDF.

When:

June 13th and 14th

Cost: 

Mini ($20); Petite-Senior ($45)

Dancers auditioning will be charged via their Dance Studio Pro account. If you are new to our studio, please ensure that you have an account on file with us and submit a registration form. We will send important information regarding the audition through our system!

Note: Dancers can choose to wear their hair down and whatever they like for their headshot.

Required Paperwork:

  • All dancers auditioning (except for minis) will need a 4x6 printed headshot and a dance resume turned in with their Audition Paperwork.

  • Audition Paperwork will be available to fill out at the audition.

Private auditions are available if you can not make it to the auditions below. Please fill out the registration form and indicate you are unavailable on the audition dates.

Tentative Friday, June 13th Schedule

Doors will open 30 minutes before audition time. Dancers (except those auditioning for the Mini Team) will get a headshot taken. Teen/Senior Dancers will attend a professional development seminar. Dancers will learn a routine which they will be expected to perform the following day in small groups.

Please ensure your dancer brings plenty of water and snacks. Attendance on day 1 is mandatory to participate in day 2 auditions. This is a closed audition, so parents and guardians will not be allowed in the rooms during the process.

 
  • If the dancer turns 8 years old before January 1st 2025 - they will need to audition for one of our other teams.

    Dancers should wear all black dance clothing (like a leotard, sports bra, shorts or leggings) with their hair slicked back and out of their face.

    This is a special and custom short audition process for young dancers ages 5-7 who have none or very limited competition experience.

    If you are unsure whether your student should audition for the Mini Team or a more advanced team, please contact our studio to discuss. Dancers auditioning for the Mini Team do not have to participate in any other audition events.

    If your dancer is auditioning for the Mini Team, this is the only time and audition event your dancer needs to attend.

    Dancers should anticipate having a headshot taken, followed by a warm-up session, across-the-floor technique practice, and a quick combination to learn.

  • Dancers should wear all black dance clothing (like a leotard, sports bra, shorts, or leggings) with their hair slicked back and out of their face.

    Note: Dancers can choose to wear their hair down and whatever they like for their headshot but will need to change during their lunch break,

    10:30-11:00 Resume and Paperwork Check

    11:30-12:00 Headshot Workshop (Ages 10 and under): Dancers may wear their hair down and whatever clothing they like for their headshot

    12:00-1:30 Lunch: At this time dancers should put their hair back and change into their all black dance attire as well as eat lunch. Dancers can leave the studio, or bring a picnic lunch to eat at the studio supervised by EDF staff.

    1:30-3:00 Petite Combination*

    *Dancers should expect to perform this combinations in small groups during their audition time slot the following day.

  • Dancers should wear all black dance clothing (like a leotard, sports bra, shorts, or leggings) with their hair slicked back and out of their face.

    Note: Dancers can choose to wear their hair down and whatever they like for their headshot but will need to change during their lunch break,

    10:00-10:30 Resume and Paperwork Check

    11:00-11:30 Headshot Workshop (Ages 11 and under): dancers may wear their hair down and whatever clothing they like for their headshot.

    LUNCH BREAK 11:30-12:00: At this time dancers should put their hair back and change into their all black dance attire as well as eat lunch. Dancers should bring a picnic lunch and will be supervised by EDF Alumni Dancers and Boosters.

    1:30-3:00 Junior Combo(s)*

    *Dancers should expect to perform these combinations in small groups during their audition time slot on June 28th.

  • Dancers should wear all black dance clothing (like a leotard, sports bra, shorts, or leggings) with their hair slicked back and out of their face.

Tentative Saturday, June 14th Schedule

Doors will open 30 minutes before your dancer's assigned audition time. Dancers will begin with ballet and technique classes, and then perform the combinations learned the previous day in small groups.

Please ensure your dancer brings ample water and snacks. Audition paperwork must be submitted at the beginning of the audition. This is a closed audition, so parents/guardians will not be permitted in the rooms during the process.

  • If your dancer was previously on the EDF Competition team, they will need to re-audition to be on the team for the next season. This is a great opportunity to practice auditioning skills for the future.

  • The competition team offers opportunities for dancers aged 4-18.

  • Mini team

    There is paperwork that will need to be filled out upon arrival to the audition on June 13th. The paperwork should take 5-10 minutes to fill out and is due prior to the audition.

    All dancers auditioning for the Competition Team will need a 4x6 printed headshot and a dance resume turned in with their Audition Paperwork.

    To assist with this requirement, there will be a Headshot and Resume Seminar on June 13th.

    This seminar is mandatory to any dancer trying out for the EDF Competition Team and is included in the audition fee.

    They will leave with an edited resume, an emailed headshot for additional use, and their headshot will be printed and available for them for their Friday Audition. Please arrive with a printed out resume and a notebook to take notes. Dancers can wear their hair down, and can wear any outfit they choose for their headshot.

    RESUME TEMPLATE

  • Mini team members EDF Mini dancers will compete in two different local competitions. They will study ballet, tap and jazz. They will also perform in the annual Dance Showcase. Solo/Duet opportunities will be at the discretion of the studio director. This means that they are required to be in 1-2 hours of choreography classes, and at least 2 hours of technique.

    Petite, Junior, Teen and Senior Teams will compete in a minimum of two different local competitions and a studio selected National Competition. Dancers on the Apprentice or Advanced teams will travel to 1 additional regional competition. All dancers will also perform in the annual Dance Showcase.

    They will study ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and lyrical. Dancers will be required to take Cecchetti and technique classes. Extra practice times will be scheduled as required. Dancers are required to be in at least 3 hours of choreography classes, and 3+ hours of technique.

  • Results will be sent by June 20th, with placements sent by July 7th.

  • Elite Dance Force attends at least 3 regional competitions, and one out of state National Competition each year.

  • Each dancer can only audition for one team. If you would like your dancer to be assessed for two teams, please select the higher level of the two. If they do not make it on to the more advanced team, they will be placed on the team we think best fits their skill level and age.

    Each dancer should only be auditioning for one team, and pay one audition fee.
